The annual World Press Photo Contest recognizes and celebrates the best photojournalism and documentary photography produced over the last year. Entering the World Press Photo Contest is free and open to all professional photographers working in the field of photojournalism and/or documentary photography. Entries will open on 1 December 2023 and close on 11 January 2024.

In this presentation organized with the VII Foundation, World Press Photo Contest director Anna Lena Mehr and 2023 Contest winner Anush Babajanyan will run you through the 2024 Contest entry process and share insights on how to best submit your work. It will be followed by a Q&A session.
Anna Lena Mehr: As Contest director at the World Press Photo Foundation, Anna Lena is in charge of the annual photo contest that celebrates the best photojournalism and documentary photography of the last year. She started her path at World Press Photo to manage contests, projects, and events, centered around recognizing the important work of documentary and news photographers around the world. In 2021 Anna Lena implemented a new contest model to give a platform to a more diverse representation of our world. Anush Babajanyan: Armenian photographer Anush Babajanyan focuses her work on social narratives and personal stories. In addition to working extensively in the Caucasus, she photographs in Central Asia and around the world.
